*shrug

I watched Prometheus for the second time today.  Visually stunning movie overall.  But i couldn't help wanting all the characters to die.  Maybe that's how i was supposed to feel?  Aaanyway, I love when dude shows up out front of the ship all contorted and starts goin ape-sh**.  The person i like the least suddenly  transforms into my favorite character!  I know how ya feel bro... *sigh

Head in the Clouds

Silly monkey just didn't want to work with me on this one, but i suppose that's the nature of his character!

This piece has been a good reminder of how important it is with traditional media to do quick studies on the side, or in advance to make the process smoother and faster,  which i didn't do...  Haha!  Next time i'll know better!  On the opposite side of the coin, its fun to ad lib things on a piece as you go, its an adventure that way!

Go West, Young Raccoon

Any cowboy can carry a tune.  The touble comes when he tries to unload it!  Here are some concepts i did for the west level of Sly Cooper 4.  If you don't own a copy yet,  go make your mama proud and pick one up!  ~i

Original concepts for Toothpic the armadillo were done by my lead, and can be found here

Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time!

I sincerely apologize for my inactivity here,  2012 was a difficult year for me.  Thanks for hangin in, and for coming back! I will do my best to update the ol' blog more than once a lifetime.

SLY COOPER:  Thieves In Time

What a fun world to live in and help create!  This project was my first professional gig,  and was a monumental learning experience.  I learned a lot from the very talented Paul Sullivan to whom i owe a great deal of thanks.  This project was a fun learning process for me in many ways.  I learned to design, to take cues from a lead and follow a design style, to really look and understand what i was doing before doing it.  It was extremely difficult at first,  but i think i got the hang of it.  I feel like my work has really improved between the beginning of this title and now.  I owe much of this to the people willing to take a chance on me, a chance to grow and make mistakes (and oh, did i make a lot of them.)  I put some serious pencil mileage down in the last three years, and I've got a giant stack of paper to attest to it.  I am glad for the time i spent working on Sly,  and am super thankful for the humbling chance to work as a concept artist. Here are some of the things i did for the Sly Cooper 4 project, I did my best to include some art from each level in the game, mostly environment type stuff.  Stay tuned! there's plenty more!  ~Cheers!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is my favorite holiday.  I always try to fool around with a drawing or two at the end of October,  because i love the subject matter involved.  This piece started with the worst sketch you ever saw in your life.  I tried to play with the shapes of things to find a good balance,  and just went for it.  I had a lot of fun making this piece.  If i work up the courage, perhaps i'll post the prelims later.  Hope all is well in candyland!  See you at the dentist ;)

Escapades

People are interesting.  I've been finding it fun to try to capture the people i see at the bus station and on the bus.  I have a love/hate relationship with the public transit system, it takes a lot of time to get anywhere on the bus.  However in hindsight,  my escapades riding to and fro is time well spent.  I recently filled a sketchbook,  and thought i would share a few entries.  I hope everyone is well out there.  Carpe Diem!

Sly Cooper 4: Thieves in Time

Hey!  I have been working at Sanzaru on Sly Cooper:  Thieves in time for a while now,  and finally get to show some of what i have been up to!  The trailer was released at E3 along with a little bit of gameplay teaser.  This is some of the work i put in toward the trailer,  some signage, and the matte.  My lead and good friend Paul Sullivan set the style for the game, and my buddy James Hamilton is always willing to help me when my eyes get tired, as well as putting out some impressive work for the IGC's on the project.  Thanks you guys!  Big ups to all the people that worked on the trailer, and to my team at Sanzaru!  This stuff doesn't even scratch the surface of all the concept that has been put into this game,  so there's definitely more to come in the future!  Hope you all like!

Cheers!

Figure Drawing

I was able to get out to some figure drawing sessions  a few weeks back.  I wasn't quite as rusty as i believed myself to be.  Thanks Josh for having me out,  wish you all could have been there.
